Brother International sponsors Jillian Lewis 2009 Fall/Winter Fashion Show

Who would have thought that Brother International would be “behind the seams” of the Jillian Lewis 2009 Fall/Winter Fashion Show? If you knew the history Lewis has with Brother, you wouldn’t be surprised. Brother has been at Lewis’ side since she was 16 years old when she first learned how to sew on her Brother Pacesetter 2300, the same lightweight portable machine that she used backstage on the day of her first fashion show. In addition to providing her with sewing lessons and service support throughout the years, Brother also provided Lewis with the support she needed to create her garments and launch her first fashion show during New York Fashion Week in February 2009.

Many fashion editors and news reporters attended the show to see the new line firsthand. It was obvious that the fitted, sensual collection of beautifully engineered hand-knits, tailored coats and blazers, puzzle-pieced garments were crafted with care and attention to detail. What was not obvious was that these garments were constructed using Lewis’ machine, the Pacesetter 2300, and the new Brother quattro 6000D.

It was the Pacesetter 2300 machine that was backstage with Lewis as she finished last minute garment construction and details for the show. Most impressive was the last minute creation of fringe sleeves that were created to complete a formerly sleeveless gown. The fact that Lewis had her original machine with her backstage was a nostalgic touch amidst the pre-show prepping frenzy of the high-fashion design exhibit.

Lewis noted, “My Brother machine will go down in history with me since it has been such a huge asset to my career. I’ve spent countless hours with it while learning to sew, during my senior thesis, throughout projects from Parsons School of Design, preparing for Project Runway, and now during my own show during New York Fashion Week!”
