Letter from the President
It's hot outside, but Niagara Falls will take some heat off in September.
As I write this, Des Moines, IA is going to be over 90 degrees today and stay that steamy most of the week. According to the experts, high heat is expected throughout the summer in many parts of the country.
We at VDTA•SDTA are staying cool inside as we prepare for the Niagara Summer Trade Show. This two-day event will be a nice change for many of you who might need an excuse to travel somewhere great. And Niagara Falls in September will be beautiful. When I visited there a few months ago, it was breathtaking. The fresh air around the falls is something everyone should experience.
There are so many things to do in Niagara Falls and the surrounding area. You can take a helicopter ride over the falls or take a cruise at night and see the stunning fireworks. The area food and wine is an experience you will most definitely enjoy, plus there are many winery tours. Shopping and entertainment is abundant, and if you want your gambling fix, there is a casino next to our host hotel, the Hilton Hotel.
Because of our shortened, two-day schedule, there are very few classes scheduled. Scheduled classes include:
Get your passports ready to go. For those flying in, you have the Buffalo, NY airport and Toronto airport; both just a short shuttle-ride away. Buffalo is a smaller, less busy airport and sometimes more economical, but it really all depends on your preferences. Niagara Air Bus shuttle service has a special rate for our group from either airport.
Registration is open online at www.vdta.com, or you can find the registration form in our magazine on page 7.
We look forward to seeing you there!
