Ronald Light
President, A To Z Vacuum Stores
1938 —

Ronald Light began his vacuum career in 1959 at the age of nineteen, going door to door with Air-Way Sanitizer. After seven years, Ron opened his first A To Z Vacuum Store in 1965. During the 1980’s he opened other A To Z Stores. In 1992, A To Z Vacuum Stores passed the million unit mark, selling a million vacuum cleaners since the 1965 opening.

Today Ron’s sons Scott, Ellie, RonDell and daughter Lori head the home office in West Reading, PA, with nearly 100,000 square feet of showroom, service department and warehouse space, one of the largest vacuum cleaner stores in the country.

Ron Light’s A To Z Vacuum Stores represent the classic success story. He started selling door to door and built a very successful and substantial enterprise through old-fashioned hard work. His success has stemmed from providing excellent customer service and quality products, and having well trained, professional salespeople. He keeps his customers coming back by providing for them a service and parts department that is second to none.

Ron has been able to keep ahead of the changing times by being very aggressive in his advertising and merchandising. In spite of the fierce competition from national discounters and regional department stores, he continues to increase his company’s sales and profits. Ron’s progressive thinking enables him to capture the lion’s share of the vacuum cleaner business in Berks County, Pennsylvania.

Ron has received numerous honors and awards throughout his career. In 1969, he received the Highline Award from the Hoover Company for the most Hoover Dial-A-Matic Powerdrive sales. In 1973 Ron received the Outstanding Dealer Award from the Eureka Williams Company for selling more than 7,700 Eureka vacuum cleaners that year. During the 1980’s he received many awards from the Panasonic Company.
