Darrell Jensen
B & J Sewing Center
1939 -

Darrell Jensen photoDarrell and Luella Jensen began their journey in the sewing machine business in 1960. This journey was inspired after viewing the movie "The Defiant Ones" while in college in 1959. Throughout the movie the song lyric of "sewing machine man" played and it inspired Darrell to go get a job with the Singer company that day and little did the film makers know that the movie would prompt the man to later become a three time dealer of the year for Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machine Company and three time Elna volume dealer of the year. He began his love for the sewing machine business and after working for a while as a Singer salesman, Darrell secured a loan on a handshake to open B&J Sewing Center in Faribault, MN. They later opened 1st Sewing Center in Burnsville, MN, and Bloomington, MN.

Darrell and Luella have continued their journey of working and living together every day for over 50 years. They have maintained the most amazing relationship that exemplifies what a marriage should strive to be. To this day they still look to be newlyweds as they work and live their lives. Without fail, they have maintained an excellence in their business as well as their personal lives.

Darrell and Luella raised three children who all remain in the business and who are a great part in the success of the businesses. They have seven grandchildren who they follow with great pride.

The sewing machine business has been a great avenue for meeting outstanding people in all walks of the business. Company representatives, other dealers, and, of course, customers, who have all become good friends. The greatest thrill is being able to sell to the children, grandchildren, and even in some cases, the great-grandchildren of their customers.
