Electrolux unveils new products, senses new optimism

The 2009 VDTA Convention brought an increasingly optimistic crowd of dealers to the Electrolux Central Vacuum System exhibit, where the company debuted a variety of products that offer dealers the opportunity to sell the industry’s most complete indoor environmental quality package.

“Vacuum dealers are cautiously optimistic that the economy and their business will improve in 2009. They were also impressed by the new products we are bringing to market this year,” said Brady Boyd, regional sales manager.

Beam HEPA Filtration Systems

Beam dealers in attendance were especially excited about Beam HEPA Air Filtration Systems including two models that can be easily installed to the air return of an HVAC system and a portable system that can be moved from room to room. The three-stage filtration systems are 99.97% efficient in capturing particulates of 0.3 microns or larger, even smoke.

“Beam dealers now have the opportunity to offer customers a more complete indoor air quality package, Beam Central Vacuum Systems that remove dust and allergens from surfaces and HEPA Air Filtration Systems that remove dust and allergens from the air,” noted Larry Hartley, vice president of sales and marketing.

Hartley said much of the dealer optimism stemmed from the recent ratification of the National Association of Homebuilders’ National Green Building Standards. Under the new standards, installing a central vacuum system earns five points toward meeting indoor environmental quality certification. Installing a Beam HEPA Air Filtration System can earn an additional two points.

Green™ by Electrolux

The new Green by Electrolux was another hit among dealers visiting the Electrolux Central Vacuum Systems booth. The new system is the “greenest” central vacuum system ever built. Seventy percent of the system’s components are manufactured from recycled materials. It also can save enough energy over the life of the system to power a 60-watt light bulb for six months and reduce carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to those produced by a car on a 750-mile trip.

Zuum™ by Eureka

Debuting at the VDTA Convention was the Zuum by Eureka, a sleek, deco-styled central vacuum power unit that will be available in mid-2009. Four models will be available in the U.S. Each will offer a user information system that will advise the homeowner how efficiently the system is operating and when to check the collection receptacle. The Zuum also features a patented push button latch system, assuring a tight seal between the unit and the collection bucket. Electrolux teamed up with A.E. Carter, ESSCO and VCP International to host daily drawings for a free system. More than 80 central vacuum dealers entered the drawings.

“Dealers are clearly excited about our product lineup. And they’re increasingly optimistic that the rapidly growing demand for healthier living environments will help grow their central vacuum business,” said Hartley.
