Central Vac Installation Class in Las Vegas -- a huge success!

The off site installation seminar at this year’s VDTA Convention was a huge success. The project site was an 11,000-square-foot, $5 million home in the south foothills above Las Vegas. The instructors were Terry Stephenson, of ProVac Ltd. in Tulsa, OK, and Dan Phillips of Central Vacuum Systems, Oklahoma City, OK. The installing contractor was James Holt of Unified Access, Las Vegas NV. Lunch was prepared and served by Brian Meh of W CVACS, Huntington Beach, CA.

Attendees arrived at the site around 9:30 a.m. and the day began with presentations of the products that were to be installed in the home. Ralph Guinn and Doug Hart of Canplas Industries described and explained their quality Vacu-Line central vacuum fittings that are manufactured to meet ASTM and UMC standards. Vaughn Smith representing Available Plastics, Inc. pitched the Flo-Max 2” tubing used in the installation. He explained the importance of 100 percent quality virgin material in the ASTM standard pipe and the unique bell shaped pipe end available.

Jeff Simonsen and Jim Person, sales and marketing reps for Vacu-Maid Central Vacuum Systems, demonstrated the features and benefits of the powerful two-motor, cyclonic Vacu-Maid power unit. The system included an ElectroKit with a 30-foot total control hose and powerhead featuring Quiet Drive.

Stephenson and Phillips explained the correct way to design and install the central vacuum system piping. Holt mounted inlets, cut and glued pipe, ran low volt control wire and installed the direct-connect ElectroValves. Holt also demonstrated the proper way to rough in a Vacu-Sweep under-counter inlet.

Attendees and the construction crews enjoyed lunch prepared by Meh who brought his motor coach to the job site.
