In Memory In Memory of Kenneth J. Heinrich The VDTA/SDTA is sad to share the news with you that longtime VDTA member and Hall of Fame honoree Kenneth J. Heinrich has passed away at the age of 77. KENNETH J. HEINRICH He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1951. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, discharging as a Staff Sgt. He had lived in the Burrton-Haven area for 39 years before moving to Hutchinson in 2000. He was the dedicated manager, owner and operator of Midwest Sewing and Vacuum Center in Wichita, Hutchinson and Salina. He started in the sewing machine business in 1955 with door-to-door sales in Hutchinson, Enid, Okla., and Garden City. He was recognized as an outstanding dealer several times and was once National Bernina Dealer of the Year. He traveled across the United States by motorcycle having been in every state except Hawaii. He was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church. On August 18, 1956, he married Dixie Kay Fulton in Grinnell. Survivors include his wife, Dixie; daughter, Kim (Bud) Biery, of Hutchinson; son, Troy (Mary), of Salina; grandchildren, Kenneth Biery, of Wichita, Michael Biery, of Lawrence, Maggie Heinrich, of Kansas City, and Christopher Heinrich, of Salina; three brothers, Elmer, of Jupiter, Fla., LeeRoy, of Oakley, and Gary, of Wichita; three sisters, Darlene Befort-Medina, of Larned, Arlene Downey, of Arapaho, Neb., and Delores Snyder, of Farmington, N.M. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Delmar. The funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at Park Place Christian Church, 2600 North Adams, Hutchinson, with Reverend Katrina Palan and Reverend Dr. Kim Biery presiding. Military graveside rites were conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard at Penwell-Gable Cemetery & Mausoleum. If you would like to send condolences to the family of Kenneth J.
