ESSCO moves to new headquarters

In February, 2010 ESSCO moved from the Valley View location that was the base of operations for the company for the past 14 years to a new facility in Twinsburg, OH, which is 10 miles from the current ESSCO headquarters.

ESSCO, the nationwide distributor of vacuum cleaners and parts to the independent vacuum dealer industry has been headquartered in three different facilities since the company was created in 1924 up to now. ESSCO started out small and the first location was on Euclid Avenue in downtown Cleveland, OH. The company repaired small appliances such as toasters and coffeepots and also wrapped armatures for resale. In time the company developed a reputation for high quality replacement belts and the growth required relocation to East 32nd and Prospect Avenue in Cleveland in 1974. ESSCO stayed on Prospect Avenue until new owners expanded its product assortment and customer base and produced the most comprehensive catalog in the vacuum cleaner industry. The explosive growth prompted a new headquarters to be built in Valley View, OH. This 28,000 square foot building was built with growth in mind.

"I remember when we moved into the Valley view facility," said Terry Finger ESSCO Product Manager. "We moved the entire company in a weekend and when the move was over it looked like we had a small pile of product and shelving in the middle of a vast empty warehouse. We never dreamed at the time that we could ever outgrow that space."

In August of 2009 ESSCO acquired the assets of Star Equipment and Supplies a Hauppauge, NY, based competitor. The acquisition provided ESSCO with a truly nationwide footprint allowing fast shipping nationwide from five fully stocked warehouses in Twinsburg, OH, Jacksonville, FL, Hauppauge, NY, Earth City, MO, and Rancho Cucamonga, CA. The increased sales volume and expanded assortment of new items made it necessary to move to our fourth new facility. After a lengthy search a building was found in Twinsburg, OH, that was perfect.

The new facility provides ample room for expansion with 47,000 square feet of space. An additional 15,000 square feet is available at the company's option.

The warehouse is state of the art and has been designed for maximum efficiency and enhanced speed and accuracy of picking and packing. The increased number of bay doors allows for quick loading and unloading of freight. The office area contains two large conference rooms and a fully furnished common lunch and break room.

"We are very excited about the move to our new facility", said Finger. This building will allow us to continue on our course of growth and expansion and allow us to better serve our customers. Although our fill rate and shipping speed are among the very best in the industry there is always room to raise the bar and our customers deserve the best experience we can provide. "
