Industry publisher donates booklets to toy drive

eXpresSew, DIY publisher for teens and tweens, participated in the 2006 toy drive sponsored by NBC’s The Today Show. Specializing in youth sewing patterns and kits, eXpresSew donated over 5,000 copies of Quilt Quest, a beginner guide to quilting. Booklets were circulated to 13 different U.S.-based charities that work with children and families, including Partnership with Children, Making a Difference Foundation and Holy Family Church, among others.

“Our goal has always been to inspire teens and preteens to learn to sew,” according to eXpresSew owner, Sheila Zent. “By donating copies of Quilt Quest, more kids are encouraged to ‘play’ with fabric and thread. They’re so busy having fun, they don’t realize how sewing benefits their math skills, self-esteem and sense of creativity. We were thrilled to be able to meet the needs of older children who are often forgotten by toy charities during the holidays. “
