Author & Columnist Don Taylor passes away

Don Taylor, better known as the writer of business column “Minding Your Own Business” and co-author of Up Against the Wal-Marts passed away in November 2006 after a 10-year battle with non-hodgkins lymphoma.

Don was the director of the West Texas A&M University Small Business Development Center from 1989 to 2000. Some 3,500 people can credit Don for helping them succeed. He toured the country to speak about business growth and how small businesses can succeed. Don started the Office of Business Services at WTAMU, what is now called the Enterprise Network, as a business incubator. The network now works with 49 companies throughout the Panhandle.

A member and one time deacon at the Amarillo First Assembly of God Church, Don wore his faith proudly, seeking to help others more so than himself. The Rev. Billy Nickell said Don was a true believer.

Don was a regular contributor to the VDTA publications. He shared his business knowledge and skills with the independent dealer network. VDTA wishes to express its deepest sympathy to the friends and family of Don Taylor.
