Industry News ESSCO announces 16th annual catalog update The industry standard ESSCO master catalog will be updated for the 16th year in a row on June 1, 2009. When completed in 1994, the catalog 600 pages and contained nearly every vacuum cleaner brand and model that was available for sale in the United States. Many companies would have wrapped up the project and called it a day but the ESSCO team realized that the catalog would begin to age the very day it was released because the vacuum cleaner industry is dynamic and ever changing. It was decided at the time that an update to the catalog would be done each year and models and brands would grow and change but one fact would remain which is that the ESSCO catalog would always remain the most up to date and complete catalog in the vacuum cleaner industry. Fast forward to 2009 and after 16 annual updates the ESSCO catalog has changed immensely. Now at nearly 1,000 pages the book is a lasting testament to the changes the industry has seen in the last 16 years. Few would have thought that in 2009 the filter section of the ESSCO catalog would become the paper bag section of the 1990’s as consumers embraced bagless technology and fewer yet would have predicted that the mighty Hoover and Royal would ever be purchased and run by an offshore entity.
