Feature Celebrating 25 years of providing software solutions to the retailer With over 25 years of offering innovative software solutions to retailers, Tri-Technical Systems is celebrating its Silver Anniversary. Tri-Tech continues to work toward providing an exceptional software solution to help retailers grow their businesses more efficiently and profitably, while at the same time providing a high level of customer support. “Providing quality customer service is something Tri-Tech continuously strives for,” said Paul Acton, president. “Some of the best suggestions and development ideas have come from our customers who use the software in a retail environment.” How it all began In 1984, Dave Cox was an entrepreneur in Tulsa, OK, looking for a niche market that could utilize his programming skills. He found just that market while talking to an owner of a music store. He quickly realized what music store owners already knew, that music retailers have a unique need that goes beyond the typical off-the-shelf POS software application. Dave was determined to offer a complete solution for music retailers and hasn’t looked back since. Since then, Tri-Tech has grown to 25 employees and is located in scenic Dubuque, IA. Technology has changed considerably since the early years of Dos commands. The huge task of re-writing the software to a Windows environment was taken on and the programmers worked well into the night for months in order to accomplish the task. With the release of the Windows version in 2001 came a new name, AIMsi which stands for Accounting and Inventory Management systems integration. Tri-Tech felt the new name more closely represented the functions of the software and lent itself well to other retail markets. AIMsi is a complete retail business software application offering POS, inventory control, accounting, lesson tracking, rentals, repair and service, and more and is installed in more than 2000 retail stores across the United States and Canada. Tri-Tech strives to stay abreast of new technologies and is constantly looking for ways to further enhance its offerings. In 2006, Active-e was introduced. Active-e is a web hosting and e-commerce package that contains business to business (B2B) and consumer to business (C2B) components, in addition to a shopping cart. Active-e integrates with AIMsi in order to provide a complete solution for the retailer. To continue to expand Tri-Tech’s product offerings, a new product line: PC/POLL Systems was acquired in 2006. The PC/POLL software includes polling and programming tools to help businesses collect and utilize information from electronic cash registers (ECRs). Like Tri-Tech, PC/POLL began in 1984 and has followed a similar model of developing products with users in mind. The PC/POLL software can be found within all 50 states and 20 countries worldwide. Distribution of these products is done through an extensive cash register dealer network. Innovation and integration have been the building blocks of Tri-Technical Systems software. Tri-Tech looks forward to another 25 years of being an industry leader in providing retail software solutions. Reprinted from Floor Care Professional, June 2009 |
