Metro’s new 500-Watt hand vacs set new standards for power, performance and good looks!

The Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Co. has introduced a new product innovation that has completely redefined performance expectations within the much-maligned “hand vac” category. Featuring an incredibly powerful 4.5-amp, 500-watt motor, Metro’s new 500-series hand-held vacuums deliver a level of cleaning performance that, for the first time, actually parallels that of many full-size systems!

With the exception of attractive new graphics, these more powerful units look very much like previous generation Metro hand vacs and share the same rugged, all-steel body design. The similarity, however, ends when you press the on/off switch! The extraordinary power of the new 500-watt motor is immediately apparent as it torques to life with a smooth, turbine-like whine that is more reminiscent of a muffled jet engine than the anemic “whirr” you might expect from units this compact. Then, put your hand over the air intake, feel the incredibly powerful suction and you’ll have no doubt that these are not your average, run-of-the-mill “hand vacs”!

“Customers have been asking for a true high-performance hand-held vacuum cleaning system for a long time,” said Metro VP of Sales Ken Stern. “But until recently, it’s been impossible to find an affordable motor that could generate enough suction power and still be small enough to fit inside these slim units. The solution came to us last year in the form of a new, super-compact, high-power motor developed by our Motorcycle Dryer Division for their new Blaster® SideKick® portable. It has plenty of power, comes with a generous five-year warranty and fits beautifully inside our proven, all-steel Metropolitan hand vac bodies.”

Metro is marketing three products that incorporate the new 500-watt motor. There are two vacuum-only systems: the Vac’N,Go® 500 and the Metropolitan® 500. The third is a combination vacuum/blower system, the Vac’N,Blo® 500, that provides powerful dusting, blowing and inflation capabilities in addition to vacuum cleaning.

The Vac’N,Go® 500 hand vac (model VM-4B500) with an MSRP of $xx, features a durable, high-gloss-black powdercoat finish, while the Metropolitan® 500 (model VM4BS500) with an $xx MSRP, sports an elegant stainless finish that complements the rest of Metro’s high-performance Professional line. Both of these systems are also offered with different attachment packages at slightly different price points.

The new Vac’N,Blo® 500 (model VM-12500) with an MSRP of $xx, features the high-gloss-black powdercoat finish and comes complete with an upholstery tool, crevice tool, dust brush, Magic-Air® Inflation Nozzle, 20” extension wand, a flexible extension hose and convenient shoulder strap.
