What's New Quilt Shops now “in fashion” Recently noticing that many quilt shops are adding a fashion section, Pati Palmer of Palmer/Pletsch felt it was good timing to do some patterns for McCall’s that feature quilt cottons. That way, even if a store wants to carry only quilt cottons, they can market to fashion sewers. The first pattern is McCall’s 5432. The vest is easy to sew with a band collar, bias-faced armholes and front band. “Quilters are used to binding quilts, so why not clothes?” said Palmer. Add sleeves to the vest armhole for a unique jacket with turned back cuffs. The long or cropped pant is wonderful in a cotton print or strip. The tube is from cotton knit. Easy-to-sew and easy-to-wear is the motto! Think of choosing from all of those gorgeous quality cottons for these pieces. Reprinted from SQE Professional, July 2007 |
