Industry Products Introducing Spiral Eye® Needles! The Spiral Eye is an easy-to-thread hand sewing needle with a unique slot on the side of the eye. Spiral Eye needles are so easy to use you can thread one in five seconds...with your eyes closed. Pam Turner of Blaine, MN, invented the Spiral Eye Needle in memory of her mother. Turner said, “I remember laughing at my mom, glasses resting on her nose, carefully trimming the end of her thread, sucking on it, then aiming for the eye of the needle. Missing, she would grumble something like, "Why doesn't someone fix the needle?" Turner continued, “After multiple attempts, the cutting grew more precise. The sucking would be followed by pinching and twirling. And the grumbling would give way to her asking us kids to help her.” Decades later, Turner was late to work and needed to get a button on her shirt. As she struggled with threading a needle, her mother's words spilled out of her mouth. “Why didn't someone fix the needle?” While this story may be everyone's story, the difference is Turner decided that if no one else was going to fix the needle, she would. She said, “My needles are not just better because of the opening on the side of the eye. I decided if I was going to improve the needle, I would fix all the problems I had with them, not just the eye I could no longer see.” Spiral Eye Needles are the only hand sewing needles made in America. They are also made out of surgical stainless steel: no nickel plating to kick up allergies. They won't rust, and they can be sharpened using a good emery board if they become dull. Because Spiral Eye Needles have to be individually made using precision cutting machines, they cannot be made cheaply with a stamping process. Turner is using high grade material instead of cheap steel plated with nickel, so the cost is a little more, but it’s worth it. Plus, Turner added, “To me, the most important part is that 39 Minnesotans have jobs at the company where I have my needles made, because people like me are not getting the product made overseas.” To order, call Sprial Eye Needle at 1-952-240-6531 or visit www.SpiralEyeNeedle.com.
