Scenic Yosemite An exciting new pattern that makes a great class! Scenic Yosemite was the idea of Sherry Root, an avid seamstress and quilter who lives near Yosemite. She thought that combining four major icons of Yosemite in one wall hanging would be very special. Sherry made the initial prototype and Pat-e-Patterns signed on to publish the pattern. Alice Leggett is a fine artist who has taught outdoor painting in Yosemite. Alice, Sherry and Lee Fletcher, Partner of Fletcher Ross Designs and a Freelance National Educator representing Sulky of America, worked to refine the presentation and develop the many wonderful techniques that are presented in the Scenic Yosemite pattern. The resulting project is a wonderful collaboration between Sherry, Alice and Lee. “We would like to give thanks to Hoffman Fabrics and Sulky for providing the fabric, stabilizers and threads for the project,” said Lee. Fletcher Ross Designs is well known for publishing patterns with easy-to-follow instructions, illustrated in full color and that build sewing skills. Lee shared, “To simplify the fabric selection process we developed an innovative idea which incorporates a color chart on the back cover of the pattern.” Because several techniques were developed to complete the project, both the novice and advanced sewers will enjoy the process. The techniques include: Free Motion Quilting, Thread Painting, Raw Edge Appliqué, "Confetti Trees" and the assembly of a wall hanging. The instructions are in a 12 page booklet and the pattern pieces are full size. The finished Scenic Yosemite wall hanging is approximately 30" x 40". Store owners and teachers: If you are looking for a new exciting class, Scenic Yosemite fits that criteria. After the introduction of Scenic Yosemite at the October International Quilt Market in Houston, several stores have already booked classes for 2010.
