Hibbert International launches safehearth heater

by Alexandria Barnett, Environmentalist

The only portable heater with it own air purifier, CSA approvals

Green is in and our customers are demanding it. Hibbert International, of Calgary Alberta, the largest vacuum wholesaler in Canada, has joined in the Green movement taking their first large shipment of the safehearth heaters in November.

Jim Hibbert, founder of Hibbert Intenational and 2004 inductee into the VDTA Hall of Fame is responsible for spotting the revolutionary heater at the 2008 VDTA Convention. Brent Cowie, president of Hibbert, commented their decision to incorporate the line was based on extensive test marketing with several safehearth heaters they purchased at the 2008 VDTA Show in Las Vegas. Hibbert International has over 80,000 square feet of warehouse space in Calgary and Montreal to effectively service the Canadian market. The bulb-less technology which enables a smaller footprint and less weight compared to the competitors, helps with the shipping cost of the safehearth. An additional benefit is that the heaters require no assembly by the vacuum dealer on arrival is a plus. Finally, the safehearth heater is one of the only products of its type which has attained the high level of certification required for import into Canada.

Wes Black, exclusive product sales manager for Hibbert who will spearhead this product for Hibbert, was impressed with safehearth’s good value and that it also functions as an air purifier.

This air purification system has peer-reviewed university research, verifying 99.9 percent kill rates on bacteria and viruses that cause colds and flu.

This most advanced totally non-ozone air purification technology scientifically known as PCO (Photo catalytic oxidation) is called activepure.

Air purification is accomplished by a catalytic reaction between a high intensity broad spectrum non-ozone bulb including A, B, and C called UVX, and the rare metals that are coated on the cell in which the bulb is enclosed.

The reaction of the bulb with the rare metals like titian dioxide produces purifying a plasma of safe oxides, which flow through the outgoing air stream to destroy bacteria, and viruses, even MRSA while removing VOCs and odors in both the air and on surfaces such as doorknobs.

This feature will be most beneficial when our homes and offices are closed in the wintertime which permits the germs to spread infections from one person to another.

The research which established these results is on going at Kansas State University as well as the University of Cincinnati. KSU has submitted these outstanding results to the FDA as well as other agencies. No one else has this kind of verification. Wes Black can be reached at 1-877-996-9988 for any orders or questions related to the safehearth heater.

Repair in your store
While there are no bulbs to fail and the air purification cell will last for 36,000 hours of operation we have all the essential parts so you can repair the heater in your store. Since it is a more advanced technology than bulbs, repair is not a real issue.

Electric costs
The heater is rated at 1450 watts on high or 1.45 Kilowatts. Thus depending on your kilowatt hour cost your electric will cost that rate x 1.45 per hour. If you pay (? cents) per kilowatt; 6 cents x 1.45 = 8.7 cents per hour or 87 cents per day 10 cents x 1.45 = 14.5 cents per hour

If your heater runs 10 hours a day at 9 cents per hour you will pay 90 cents a day to heat a 1000 square foot area depending on insulation values. The heater will use less than 1.45 kilowatts per hour on low or medium settings.

Heater Success
Green has also been generating GREEN dollars from the Northeast to Arizona and California, the Midwest, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Ohio and Michigan to mention a few.

Several have reordered five times by early fall. One story is from the Michaud’s.

Lauren and Mike, who after an injury which made their commercial cleaning enterprise less feasible, entered the vacuum trade some five years ago.

They purchased a beautiful colonial home near Lake Winnipesaukee with loads of family living space, plenty of parking and converted the 1,000 square foot garage into a vacuum storefront called Taylor’s Vacuum and Sewing Center in Wolfeboro Falls, NH.

Obviously the garage, now a storefront, had no heat and even in the cold temperatures of New Hampshire they have heated the storefront quite effectively with the safehearth. Taylor, their son also uses the heater as the sole source to heat a large L shaped dorm room which had been built as a playroom but never finished nor heated and had relied on accessing heat from the main house.

He now is warm without the use of electric blankets or hoping that the heat from the other rooms will reach his suite. To quote Lauren: “Hi Alexandria, I received the safehearth heater. I can’t believe how great it works! The pricing is wonderful, below even the less sophisticated competitors.”

Jim McVeagh of Hampden Vacuum & Sewing Center has been rolling out sales from scenic Mechanicsburg, PA. In metro areas like Wichita, Midwest Sewing, a vacuum operation of three stores with a history of 55 years in the vacuum industry, Kenneth and his son Troy Heinrich have been breaking all sales records and experiencing no sensitively to price even when a shipment had to be air freighted when demand surpassed supply. Steve Pinegar in Lawrence, KS, referred several vacuum dealers who were having great problems getting inventory from the other heater companies and were thrilled at our in stock quantities. At all times they have had some product for the vacuum dealer and promotional materials including the first article published in the VDTA magazine last October.

At Hibbert, according to Brent Cowie, “Heaters were never considered for our product line, but you can’t ignore the success with the dealers in the United States and safehearth offers us everything we need, including Canadian certifications, repair parts, and the green air purification module which made our decision easy.”

At the recent USGBC Greenbuilt Conference in Boston, MA, in the closing session it was summarized that the Green economy and Green products will move all of us forward and help all our businesses survive the financial dilemma we all now face.
