In Remembrance

In Memory of Ralph Morehouse

June 22, 1938 - August 25, 2007

We are saddened to report the death of Ralph Morehouse who passed unexpectedly in his sleep. It was found that he had an enlarged heart. The size of his heart comes as no surprise to those of us who knew and loved him; the large heart was an endeared characteristic.

For the more than 43 years that he tirelessly served the Singer Sewing Company, Ralph demonstrated unparalleled dedication and earned the respect of the entire industry. Ralph began his career with Singer on December 12, 1960, as a store manager in Pendleton, OR. From there he moved to Washington, to manage stores within the Northwest Region of the U.S. On July 12, 1969, he became Assistant Regional Training Manager for the Western Region. On January 31, 1977, he was promoted to Dealer Supervisor for the Western Region. Then, on October 30, 1978, he was named Regional Sales Manager for the Pacific Region, where he served until his retirement on April 1, 2005.

He was recognized by his ever present infectious wide smile, endless generosity and genuine enthusiasm for his work. While others were pondering if it was possible, Ralph was getting it done. Whether it was business or running one of his many marathons, Ralph had but one speed -- wide open. He had a true zest for life and was an inspiration to all who knew him. Those of us who had that privilege, are the better for it.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Glenda, four daughters, four granddaughters, and one great granddaughter.

The VDTA wishes to extend its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ralph Morehouse.
