Ret Sobelman
Sobel Vacuum

Ret Sobelman was born and raised in the vacuum business, starting as a pre-teen rebuilding vacuums on Saturdays for his father Walter Sobelman, who is also a VDTA Hall of Fame inductee. In high school he would work in the store after school, weekends, and during the summer. After receiving his degree in business administration from Fredonia State University in 1983, Ret joined the family business full time. Within a few years Walter had retired and Ret, along with his sister Bryn Sobelman, began to make changes to the business that has been in their family since 1919. Turning from an emphasis on repairs and rebuilt vacuum cleaners Sobel became involved with selling and servicing high quality vacuum cleaners.

Sobel has been consistently cited by many manufacturers for outstanding sales and service of their products. Over the years Sobel has been a master dealer for Royal, with Ret being selected to their dealer advisor board. Sobel is also a Miele Diamond dealer.

In his spare time Ret is involved with his two children and has helped coach many of their sports teams. He is very active in their education as well as all aspects of their lives.

Ret continues to be a friend and mentor to many in his industry as well as to those outside it. He has close long term relationships with many suppliers throughout our industry.

Ret has been involved with several seminars at the convention as well as hosting one of his own. He has attended almost all of the winter conventions as well as many of the summer ones. He is a lifetime member and supporter of our great industry.
