| Beam Industries Beam Industries, headquartered in Webster City, IA, is the world’s largest manufacturer and marketer of central vacuum systems and has focused exclusively on central vacuum systems since the company was founded in 1957. Beam, founded by R.L. Sampson, got its start in a 6,000-square-foot building and expanded eight times in its first 30 years. The company grew to occupy 40,000 square feet. In 1988, a 55,000-square-foot plant was built to house new equipment and more modern manufacturing methods. In 1989 construction was completed on a new plant and Beam Industries moved to its present location. Today, the company is part of the Electrolux Group, the world’s largest producer of appliances and equipment for kitchen, cleaning and outdoor use. With more than 160 employees at its 105,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, Beam produces a full line of central vacuum systems, tools and accessories for its flagship Beam brand, as well as its other corporate brands, Electrolux and Eureka. The company also is building and growing dealer and distributor networks for Electrolux and Eureka to serve additional customer channels in the U.S. and Canada. Beam products are shipped to 50 countries around the world. Beam’s early successes came in Canada where the Beam brand is the market leader and where up to 90 percent of new homes are primed for central vacuum systems. Beam also is the fastest growing central vacuum system supplier in the United States and globally. In addition to its leadership in central vacuum system manufacturing, Beam Industries also leads the industry in research and innovation. Beam’s Serenity® Series Central Vacuum Systems launched a new era in central vacuum system technology in 1996. The Serenity’s patented SoundOff® muffler and QuietPak™ insulation, gave homeowners the first quiet central vacuum system. In 2002, Beam also broke new ground by proving a central vacuum system can create a healthier living environment. A University of California, Davis, School of Medicine clinical study found that use of a Beam Serenity Series Central Vacuum System reduced allergy symptoms by 44 percent to 61 percent. Today, Beam remains the only central vacuum system that is clinically proven to relieve allergies. Following the clinical study numerous green building programs and healthy home demonstrations have recommended central vacuum systems to improve indoor air quality. Not content to rest on its laurels, Beam introduced more sweeping innovations in 2003 with the Serenity® Plus series central vacuum systems that offer consumers more cleaning power, the industry’s best filtration system and a consumer-friendly twist-lock collection receptacle. A year later, the Beam Advocate Power Team provided homeowners with the most durable and reliable electric power brush, hose and attachment ensemble of any central vacuum system. In addition to its product focus, Beam has placed heavy emphasis on developing and training its dealer and distributor networks in the U.S., Canada and around the world. Beam dealers receive the industry’s most comprehensive training, sales support and the industry’s best promotional programs and tools to run a successful Beam business.
